slices (2008)

For drums, live-electronics, realtime-3D-video

Slices is a multimedia piece for concert performance. The score for the drums is composed automatically and is visualised on a computer-screen. The drum sounds serve as control input for a software realised in Max/MSP, where sound-processing is applied. Furthermore the sounds are used to animate the 3d-video based on the generated score. The score, interpretation and visuals are inseparably linked. The piece is composed – slice by slice – new and unique with each performance. Interaction, realtime-processing of score-data, audio and video were in focus while developing the piece. But the main goal was to connect these processes meaningful to each other.
